Uciderea unui adolescent de către poliţiştii din Atena a declanşat, sâmbătă seară, un val de violenţe în capitala elenă şi în mai multe oraşe.

O parte din populaţia mai multor oraşe elene s-a implicat ieri în violente mişcări de revoltă contra autorităţilor, la o zi după ce poliţiştii greci au împuşcat mortal un adolescent de 15 ani. Potrivit Reuters, violenţele au izbucnit spre finele zilei de sâmbătă, în capitala Atena, imediat după împuşcăturile din districtul central Exarchia. Grupuri de tineri au aruncat în forţele de ordine cu sticle incendiare, au ars zeci de maşini şi au distrus numeroase vitrine de magazine şi bănci. The death of a 15 year - old in central Athens during clashes with police in the Exearchia district has sparked off a series of violent protests in the Greek capital and other major cities. Thessaloniki, Patras, and Crete all witnessed violent clashes between demonstrators and riot police.

According to official reports Andreas Grigoropoulos died after being shot at 9pm by police guarding the Exarcheia police station, which due to its proximity to the university of Athens is often a target for attacks by anarchist and other leftist groups. However, eyewitness accounts tell a different story. According to local residents the the police officer shot Grigoropoulos after an argument. Greek national TV is now calling the incident a "cold blooded Murder" rather than an act of self - defence....more here

Segundo día de disturbios. Ocupado el Consulado griego en Berlín y la Embajada griega en Londres. Manifestación en París hoy a las 15:30. El policia asesino podría haber utilizado un arma no reglamentaria. Según la CNN las embajadas de EEUU y Gran Bretaña desaconsejan a americanos y británicos salir a la calle en Atenas y Salónica.

Sobre las 10 de la noche del sábado 6 de diciembre, un coche de policía hacía su ronda regular en el barrio de Eksarchia, en el centro de Atenas. La zona de Eksarchia ha sido desde siempre un punto de encuentro para activistas de izquierdas y tiene tradición en la actividad política militante.
