America: Freedom to Fascism este un documentar realizat de Aaron Russo, in care se incearca aflarea adevarului intr-un mod obiectiv despre bancile private si sistemul de taxe la nivelul populatiei de rand. Prin interviuri costisitoare cu experti si autoritati, regizorul scoate la iveala faptul uimitor ca Guvernul Federal si bancile ii prostesc pe americanii de rand, punandu-i sa plateasca taxe si impozite care ajung in buzunarele celor bogati. Orthodox People’s Militia

Here’s a new one. The Moscow Patriarch announced that it plans to create an “Orthodox People’s Militia” under the auspices of the Russian Orthodox Church. The militia, according to Father Vsevolod Chaplin, will be:

"Small groups which will literally dominate the street life of districts, small cities, and villages. And here, I think the Orthodox militia can maintain order in their hometowns. Now there exists military-patriotic groups who are physically fit under many church communes and parishes. They could show a good amount of civil activity."

The groups, which seem to already have been created, will make their official debut on 1 December. And what will be their most immediate task? According to Father Kirill Frolov, the leader of the Moscow division of the Union of Orthodox Citizens, the militias will “in some degree be dictated by the possible outcomes of the financial crisis, in particular unemployment. The militiamen will uphold civil peace and prevent the manifestation of extremism.” The Moscow MVD has already expressed interest in the project.

It’s no coincidence that the announcement of an Orthodox militia also coincides with planned Dissenters’ March on 14 December. One assumes that when the good Father speaks of extremism, he means Other Russia. The Dissenters’ March falls on the anniversary of the Decembrist Uprising of 1825. We all know what happened then: the uprising of hopeful nobles was crushed, ushering in the reign of Nicholas I. Nicholas is said to have conducted some of the interrogations personally and a compilation of the usurpers’ testimony is said to have sat on his desk as a reminder. Given the emphasis Nicholas put on Othodoxy as a emblem of Russian nationalism, the potential participation of Orthodox militas as a foil to Other Russia’s plans strikes of a certain historical irony.

What is perhaps less ironic is the fact that the militias are supported by Nashi. Nashi is no stranger to organizing street militias to aid the cops. Readers will remember that Nashi created the Voluntary Youth Militia before the 2007 parlimentary elections to combat disruptions by “extremist organizations.” Now it seems this experience will be taste tested with an added Orthodox flavor.

Indeed, Nashi has been cozying up to the Orthodox Church as of late. Orthodoxy is being more and more incorporated into Nashi’s ideology and identity. Last week, during a meeting with Nashi members, Metropolitan Kirill said that there is a need for an all-Russia youth organization based on “traditional values.” “We used to have a youth organization (i.e. the Komsomol) working all through the country. It did a lot of useful work and many of those who belong to political elite today stepped out of the organization, where they gained administrative experience.” How times have changed. ..... more here

Dreams that Money Can Buy

Surrealist painter and Dada film-theorist Hans Richter wrote, produced, and directed the experimental exercise Dreams That Money Can Buy, one of the most significant contributions to the 20th-century "avant garde" movement. The project began in 1944, while Richter was director of the Institute of Film Techniques at City College in New York. Combining short scenarios written by such world-renowned artists as Max Ernst, Marcel Duchamps, Man Ray, Alexander Calder and Fernand Leger, Richter came up with a full-color, feature-length study in dreamlike "wish fulfillment." The film's only nod to continuity is the presence of a self-styled heavenly psychiatrist, whose patients purportedly visualize the images which play across the screen.



Described by one observer as "surreal yet somewhat Jungian," Dreams That Money Can Buy cost $25,000 and was three years in the making (Richter liked to take his time: his later Dadascope took five years!) Its New York premiere was greeted with a mixture of bravos and bewilderment, especially when the projectionist elected to show the film on the wall and ceiling rather than the screen. Riot Gear - Neo-Nazis attack on Litvínov Roma

On Monday the Czech Republic witnessed some of its worst street violence in recent memory when hundreds of right-wing extremists in the north Bohemian town of Litvínov clashed with Czech police. In the incident, Neo-Nazis veered away from a planned march and attempted to attack a nearby Roma suburb, highlighting long-growing tensions between the local Roma and non-Roma community. The battle lasted some three hours and led to several arrests and more than a dozen injuries.



Monday, November the 17th, Litvínov: smoke, thrown bottles, tear gas. Scenes of chaos and violence came to the fore as police struggled to subdue the most aggressive demonstrators, some of them badly bloodied. Radicals from around the Czech Republic, many of them supporters of the ultra-right Workers’ Party had gathered in Litvínov for a planned protest march; their attempt to storm the neighbourhood of Janov, largely populated by Roma residents, set off the three-hour battle. Police in riot gear, some of them on horseback, had been given the strictest orders to prevent Neo-Nazis from breaking through and in the end they succeeded. Nonetheless, it was one of the ugliest clashes involving the far-right, says Zdeněk Zbořil, a political scientist specialising in extremist movements.

He himself was at the scene: “It was worse in person than on TV because many locals joined the right-wing extremists. There were about 500 ultra right-wingers but together with the locals there were maybe more than 1,200. They left in the final push for Janov, but showed support for the extremists until then. They said that it was impossible to live next to the Roma, and that there was absolutely no communication between the communities. So, things have really escalated and in a way it’s ‘too late’. I’ve seen demonstrations where radicals used the Hitler salute, but this is the first time I’ve seen such support from locals – this was something different.



A special conflict resolution team was deployed by the police, designed to prevent an escalation of violence at demonstrations or sports events. On Saturday in Litvínov, the team had to calm down both sides.

Two weeks ago, the police prevented a similar conflict in the Janov neighbourhood, where 70 Roma armed with sticks, golf clubs and axe handles were facing an approaching crowd of Workers' Party supporters.

Pantofi lustruiţi, costum, cravată sau fustă de lungime medie, cămaşă şi sacou. Obligatoriu, ceas de firmă. Pentru că totul trebuie să se încadreze în timp. Geantă diplomat sau mapă. Şi un parfum discret, preferabil de firmă. Părul aranjat. Vârsta: până în 35, cel mult 40 de ani.

Sunt uşor de recunoscut. Sunt angajaţii companiilor multinaţionale. Oameni care s-au transformat în nişte roboţi programaţi să execute perfect ordinele companiei. Chiar cu preţul vieţii personale.

Românii preferă să lucreze în companii multinaţionale, atât pentru confortul statutului profesional, cât şi pentru pachetul salarial. La această concluzie a ajuns o cercetare calitativă realizată în acest an de agenţiile Qresearch şi Gemius Research, în colaborare cu eJobs. Cei intervievaţi au considerat că multinaţionalele pun accentul pe împlinirea şi dezvoltarea resurselor umane şi pe motivarea permanentă a angajaţilor.

Dispuşi să muncească până cad

În general, angajaţii companiilor multinaţionale sunt oameni cu studii superioare, tineri (cu vârste de până în 35 de ani). Ştiu să utilizeze calculatorul la un nivel avansat şi stăpânesc cel puţin o limbă străină.

Sunt ambiţioşi, dispuşi să petreacă şi peste 10 ore la serviciu, iar unii sunt chiar gata să renunţe la viaţa personală. În companie, totul se judecă în termeni clari, în obiective de atins în intervale de timp bine stabilite. Miza este venitul.
“Salariile variază în funcţie de poziţia deţinută în companie, precum şi de compania în sine.

Pentru cei care au un an sau doi de experienţă, de pildă, veniturile se pot situa între 1.000 şi 1.500 de euro lunar”, a afirmat Andreea Călinescu, Project Consultant la Barnett McCall Recruitment. Dar există un preţ care trebuie plătit – transformarea într-un angajat cuminte şi dornic să muncească şi atunci când este rupt de oboseală.

“Marile companii produc un gen de personal care este foarte obedient, iar chestiunea aceasta este legată de venituri. Cu cât acorzi salarii mai mari, cu atât creezi o dependenţă mai mare de instituţie. Inclusiv prin multele tipuri de avantaje pe care poate să le ofere o mare corporaţie – o serie întreagă de servicii plus prestigiu.

Asta face ca efectul birocratic să fie foarte puternic, în sensul că oamenii sunt destul de specializaţi, respectă foarte clar nişte reguli”, a explicat, pentru „Adevărul“, sociologul Alfred Bulai.

Cei care nu se conformează, nu pot să supravieţuiască în acest mediu. “Cultura organizaţională a companiei în care lucrezi, te influenţează foarte mult. Dacă nu te laşi îndoctrinat, nu poţi să rezişti mult”, a punctat Călinescu.

Un nou tip de mentalitate

În aceste condiţii, consideră sociologul Marius Pieleanu, “avem de-a face cu un nou tip de mentalitate organizaţională şi de muncă”. Dacă generaţiile de peste 35 de ani din România au, la locul de muncă, un comportament similar celui de dinainte de 1989, la cei de vârstă tânără, de până în 35 de ani, comportamentul tinde să devină relativ similar cu cel al oricărui model organizaţional din Europa Occidentală.

Formându-se astfel, unii dintre angajaţii multinaţionalelor ajung să nu poată concepe un alt stil de viaţă. În schimbul acestei “sclavii”, companiile multinaţionale le oferă tinerilor siguranţa locului de muncă, precum şi siguranţa că îşi pot achita datoriile şi creditele la bănci.

Fără personalitate, dependenţi de imagine

Disciplinarea în exces duce la alienarea omului, iar modelul organizaţional de la nivelul marilor companii are şi efecte negative. Acestea sunt, mai degrabă, de ordin individual. „Angajatul ajunge să aibă multe abilităţi mecanice. Disciplinarea excesivă nu-i mai permite să-şi dea frâu liber imaginaţiei, libertăţilor individuale“, a subliniat Marius Pieleanu.

În plus, corporaţiile pun accentul pe aspectul vestimentar, pe atitudine, pe limbajul adoptat de angajaţi. Specialiştii în resurse umane recunosc că multinaţionalele vor ca angajaţii să fie în permanenţă îmbrăcaţi la costum.

Uneori, bugetul personal nu corespunde cu cerinţele companiei. Varianta de avarie: o pereche de blugi închişi la culoare şi un sacou pot salva situaţia. Sociologul Alfred Bulai a explicat că este vorba despre un anumit gen de prezenţă publică, un gen care să fie agreat şi chiar să constituie un model.

Reclama, sufletul comerţului

Imaginea companiei este indusă angajatului, iar acesta devine dependent de ea. De altfel, multinaţionalele sunt mai atractive. Şi funcţiile au denumiri mai atractive. Secretara, de pildă, e assistant manager.

Sociologii spun că în acest fel diverse funcţii rutiniere sunt încărcate simbolic. Şi limbajul devine “corporatist”. Termeni precum “dead-line”, “product meeting”, “workshop” au intrat în vocabularul uzual al acestora, deşi pentru fiecare există corespondent în limba română. În plus, apare folosirea fără rezerve a unor cuvinte din limba engleză în mijlocul frazelor în limba română – “bottom line”, “however”, “whatever”, “content”, “image”, “quality” etc.

Scopurile roboţeilor corporatişti

Ambiţiile angajaţilor la multinaţionale sunt fie să ajungă cât mai sus pe scara ierarhică, fie să-şi înfiinţeze propria companie. Toţi vor să ajungă în vârf. Pentru cei care visează să aibă propria afacere, o slujbă la multinaţională poate fi extrem de utilă întrucât ajung să aibă cunoştinţe solide asupra modului în care se desfăşoară activitatea într-o companie, dar mai ales experienţă.

Succesul pe cont propriu nu este totuşi garantat, astfel că, uneori, după unul sau mai multe eşecuri, cei care au încercat se întorc într-o corporaţie. Angajaţii multinaţionalelor sunt partea de bază a clasei de mijloc, în plin proces de formare.

Obiectivele trebuie atinse într-un termen scurt, iar programul prelungit este de la sine înţeles. Un succes atrage după sine alte sarcini. Se formează astfel un cerc vicios care nu mai lasă timp angajatului pentru viaţa privată.

Mulţi îşi spun că îşi sacrifică viaţa personală numai pentru o perioadă, până când ajung într-o funcţie mai bună şi îşi rotunjesc veniturile. Între timp, riscă să-şi piardă până şi prietenii.

“Recunosc că prefer să nu spun ce funcţie am, că fiecare vrea ceva de la mine. Treptat, m-a cam lăsat toată lumea în pace”, a spus Florian A., un manager în vârstă de 30 de ani. “Stăteam foarte mult la serviciu. Întâlniri peste întâlniri, dead-line-uri şi tot aşa. La un moment dat, m-am trezit singură.

M-am speriat. M-am decis să-mi schimb locul de muncă. Ajunsesem la o vârstă la care chiar voiam o viaţă de familie”, ne-a spus Aura C., în vârstă de 35 de ani.

THX 1138 is the directorial debut of George Lucas, representing a fuller version of one of his student films from the University of South Carolina. Lucas used inspiration from a variety of sources, with the most obvious being George Orwell’s 1984. THX 1138 also shares themes with Brave New World, The Machine Stops, and the short film by Arthur Lipsett 21-87. Francis Ford Coppola helped produce THX 1138, along with Warner Bros. The overall style of the film appears to also take some lessons from French New Wave, as the visuals are very austere and bold.

THX 1138 is an experience that represents “escape.” Lucas’s film is filled with strange visuals that help establish the bleak futuristic world in which the events take place. People are controlled with drugs and security forces. They are given roommates at random with computer sequencing, enabling procreation without emotion. The people are given names and numbers, like THX or LUH, and all forms of personal identifying factors are stripped away.

LAS VEGAS, November 15 – The first man in UFC history to win the heavyweight championship in his fourth fight was Randy Couture. Tonight, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, Couture was forced to make room in the history books for the second man to achieve the monumental feat – Brock Lesnar, who stopped Couture in the second round to take the belt and begin a new era in the UFC heavyweight division.

“I can’t believe it,” said Lesnar I want to thank (UFC President) Dana (White), the UFC, and especially Randy Couture. It takes a lot of balls to come back after a year off and fight a young buck like me.”

Couture – a five-time UFC champion and a member of the organization’s Hall of Fame -has made a career of overcoming the odds, and though he had his moments in the scheduled five rounder, in the end, the power and size of the 6-3 1/2, 265 pounder was too much for the 220-pound Couture to overcome, especially at 45. But Couture, fighting for the first time since August of 2007, didn’t blame ring rust or age for the loss. Instead, all praise went to the new king.

“Those were some big hamhocks coming at me,” laughed Couture after the fight. “He’s a big guy and he caught me with a big shot.”

With the crowd chanting ‘Randy, Randy’, the bell rang for what was dubbed “the biggest fight in UFC history.” Couture scored with a quick right hand and Lesnar attempted a couple of knees before tying the champion up against the fence, trying to wear Couture down with his 265 pounds. After a brief stalemate, the two separated and circled before Lesnar shot in for a takedown. Couture fought it off , but wound up pinned against the fence briefly before Lesnar finally finished the takedown and put Couture on his back. But just as soon as he was down, Couture reversed position and the crowd erupted. Lesnar quickly regained control though and again tried to use his size to exhaust Couture. With under a minute left, Couture made his move and got back to his feet. The two traded knees and Couture looked for the takedown, but the bell intervened.

The second began with Couture landing a couple of quick punches, which were answered by a right from Lesnar that briefly wobbled the champion. The two reconvened at the fence, and both fighters landed with hard shots as they separated. The ensuing exchange saw Lesnar get cut over the right eye, but as Couture moved in, the fighters locked up at the fence again. After they broke, a right hand behind the ear dropped Couture, and Lesnar immediately pounced, landing a series of hammerfists to the head that forced referee Mario Yamasaki to halt the bout at 3:07 of the second round.... more here

Ritualurile suferinţei autoprovocate sunt asimilate mai iute decât aritmetica, în acelaşi timp cu mersul pe jos. Chiar dacă nu sunt trecute în programa oficială, aceste învăţături care te ajută să faci repede riduri de klingonian pe fruntea speriată de bombe sunt predate de oricine, sunt cel mai răspândit program open-source, pe care fiecare îşi clădeşte mica lui platformă de nefericire şi neputinţe.

Prima lecţie predată spune că prezentul şi locul în care te afli sunt sursa veşnică a tuturor relelor, sunt izvorul minunilor întunecate din viaţa ta şi că totul se explică aşa, în timp ce distanţa le rezolvă deja pe jumătate, poate chiar din momentul decolării.

A doua lecţie spune că nu depinde de tine sau că ceea ce depinde nu contează suficient cât să răstoarne balanţa, şi asta dovedeşte că tu eşti un inocent, că te-ai născut condamnat într-o lume dezlănţuită care te vânează ca pe o floare de colţ.

Consecinţa e că nu are sens să te strădui foarte tare şi că tot ceea ce trebuie să faci este să te adaptezi, indiferent ce apuci să înţelegi că înseamnă asta. Dacă ţi se pare că înseamnă umilinţă, e ok, dacă pare că e mai bine să stai în banca ta, e perfect. Dacă începi să vezi că toate locurile sunt deja ocupate, merge să te apuci să cauţi kestii spirituale fără speranţă.

Lucrurile despre care se spune în reviste că ar conta nu au cum să funcţioneze împreună, aşa că un sacrificiu, cu tot cu sentimentele înălţătoare care îl însoţesc, plus excitarea firească a ego-ului, pare întotdeauna soluţia salvatoare. Aşa că dispar de pe listă toate lucrurile despre care ori ţi s-a spus, ori ai fost lăsat să bănuieşti că nu au ce căuta în viaţa ta, că nu ţi se potrivesc sau că sunt aşa şi pe dincolo, o demonstraţie clară că nu eşti cel care pari să vrei să pari a fi. Asta e o formulă bună pentru ceea ce rezultă. Adică o frustrare care, de cele mai multe ori, îşi montează o aureolă justiţiară şi începe să pună totul la punct, reglează cantităţile şi dozajele, creează reţetele, sentinţele şi mai ales planul de acţiune. Iar planul de acţiune se încheie cu lecţia a patra, care spune să scoţi din viaţa ta lucrurile care te bucură, care te hrănesc, care te fac să simţi că ţii legătura cu tine şi că ştii foarte bine cine eşti. Partea asta, care nu are nicio limită, nicio regulă, în care totul se reinventează cu viteza gândului, este cea mai reprimată, e cea mai pustiită zonă de conflict. Se pare că anatomia dorinţelor are mult mai multe zone părţi ruşinoase decât ne închipuim, pentru că orice se poate transforma în greşeală. Adică, libertatea înseamnă să ştii ce se cuvine şi ce nu, ce ar trebui să faci, să-ţi doreşti, ce se potriveşte cu ceea ce crezi tu despre tine şi ceea ce cred alţii că meriţi. De aceea, detaliile sunt primele care sunt anihilate în această luptă pentru corectitudine interioară, detaliile nu contează, e vorba doar despre funcţionalitate şi ea, doar ea, face legea. Aşa că toate cotloanele, toate amănuntele misterioase sunt date la o parte.

Mai rămân o vreme acolo lucrurile stupide şi nefolositoare care te bucură, toate alegerile justificate de plăcerea jocului, dar nici ele nu au viaţă lungă, pentru că sunt multe reguli de respectat şi pentru că nimeni nu are timp de prostii care în fond înseamnă detalii. Detaliile sunt o prostie, la fel ca şi plăcerea de a conduce o anumită maşină, de a bea un anumit vin, de a respira un anumit aer, de a citi într-o anume lumină, de a sta să priveşti norii, aşa, pur şi simplu, deşi nu e nimic din toate astea trecut pe ordinea de zi. Restul îl face fiecare singur, arestând scurt momentele de libertate ale celuilalt şi având grijă să şi le omoare zilnic pe ale lui. Suferinţa scuză mijloacele. Executăm programul de existenţă şi ne vedem de treaba altuia până nu se mai simte nimic.

CORUL VINATORILOR DE POLITICIENI

Deci, măi, uninominalule, măi, da’ ţie chiar nu ţi-e ruşine aşa, un pic?
Păi, după ce că ai turnat la Securitate mai ceva ca nea Nicu Văcă’ pînă la şase dimineaţa, după ce că ai furat (nu, nu, nu e o figură de stil, ai şi dosar la Poliţie şi Parchet – ei, dosar, ce dosar? DOSARE, nu dosar!), ai trecut prin enşpe partide - de nici nevastă-ta tu nu mai ştie de ce culoare politică să-ţi cumpere izmenele – şi te-ai îmbogăţit din funcţii publice (de nu mai ştiu nici amantele la care casă le duci în uichendu’ ăsta: la aia de la munte, la aia de la mare sau la ailaltă, de la Monte Carlo?), tu tot mai vii să ne ceri votul??
